Michael Agyei, also known as Lyrical Soldier, is a preacher, singer, rapper and a spoken word poet. In a nutshell, he truly is the epitome of a ‘Lyrical Evangelist’. Through his God-given use of words in song and through preaching, he is able to draw and plant a seed of interest in the minds of people as to who Jesus Christ is.

Born and raised in the UK with a Ghanaian heritage, Lyrical Soldier began writing lyrics from a very young age; performing at children day recitals. His love for music and creativity with words continued to grow throughout his teenage years and in 2006 he became one of the founding members of the secular garage/grime group known as Militant Souljaz.

At that time, he aspired to break into the secular music industry however; Lyrical Soldier found that the doors of opportunity were often closed. Therefore he decided to put down the microphone and continue singing and preaching in church. Lyrical Soldier has always been an active member of the Church Choir, and his enthusiasm and love for Christ inspired the formation of a group called ‘The One Acapella’. This talented Gospel acapella group performed at many functions ranging from church events to the Gospel Charity showcases which were hosted by the likes of Kojo and Richard Blackwood. The group also performed alongside Gospel artists such as Four Kornerz, Blessed Voices, G-Force and Siani.

In 2008, Lyrical Soldier started his ministry whilst residing in the United States. It was here that Lyrical was blessed with the opportunity to work with two very talented singer/songwriters; Maria Bryd and Jalessa Williams. This collaboration led to the recording of this first tracks ‘Unconditional’ and ‘For You’; produced by the talented South London producer 'Licquid'. In the same year Lyrical Soldier decided to use his talent more seriously for Christ when he worked in conjunction with co-producer Kadeem Clarke back in London and remixed the track ‘Unconditional’.

This launched the beginning of his ministry.

Lyrical Soldier’s gift and talent comes directly from God and he believes that when Judgment Day comes he will be held accountable as to how effectively he used his God-given talent, as noted scripturally in Matthew 25:14-30. Lyrical Soldier’s vision is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the World in order to aid the preparation of His Second Coming. He delivers the Gospel of Jesus Christ with constant enthusiasm and passion, whether through preaching or in song.

He is an artist who strongly believes in the power of words and believes that if an artist is performing, it is imperative that not only the beat is heard by the audience but the words also, since the power of the song lies in the lyrics. Lyrical Soldier has ministered at youth concerts, church events, festivals, numerous poetry jams and also Soul Survivor where he featured with the very talented UK Gospel group Ekklesia.

Growing up in a Ghanaian household, Lyrical Soldier has always heard the African Proverb, ‘A word to the wise is enough’ so he prays that what he has to say will make people think and also view their lives with a renewed mindset.

The future is bright and holds many blessings for Lyrical Soldier who is already working hard towards the release of his debut album.  Lyrical soldier is a unique, expressive and inspirational young artist who has worked very hard to get to where he is today and recognises that with Christ all things are possible for him in the future.
